Singapore Sling

The Singapore Sling was developed by Ngiaim Tong Boon for The Raffles Hotel in Singapore in the early 1900's.  It is a slow, smooth, sweet cocktail with a complex flavor.  (There are many variations).

Ingredients:
1 1/2 oz. Gin
1 oz. Lime Juice
1/4 oz. Simple Syrup
2 oz. Club Soda
1/2 oz. Cherry Brandy or Cherry Heering
Lemon slice for garnish
Maraschino cherry for garnish

Preparation:
Pour the gin, lemon juice, simple syrup, and powdered sugar (Not listed under Ingredients)  into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
Shake well.
Strain into a highball glass with ice cubes.
Pour in the club soda.
Float the cherry brandy on top by pouring it over the back of a bar spoon.
Garnish with the lemon slice and cherry.
